ROLE: ART DIRECTOR

The Small Business Initiative

Dropbox purchased an 8 page print coverwrap of The New York Times and our studio needed a dynamic way to fill the space that authentically celebrated all businesses that launched in 2020.

The Reader

The colors drew attention from readers young and old and this execution became a beloved keepsake.

The Digital Experience

The digital experience mirrored the print experience, adding light animation to spice up the experience.

The Magazine

A paired down version of the print wrap also ran in The New York Times Magazine.

The Process

Finally to kick off the ideation process I always hand sketch my layouts. Above shows a few of the many pages and layouts I tried before landing on the final direction.

Once finalized, we knew Cristina Daura would be the perfect illustrator to bring this to life.

The Print Experience

I came up with the idea to fill the 4 inside pages of the coverwrap with universal action words that represent the path from having an idea for a business, to actually launching a business.

This was a perfect compliment to the three businesses (ootBox, Biomilq, and Muggin Coffee House) we were hero-ing throughout the rest of the experience.

The Campaign Tagline

I also worked diligently to come up with the campaign tagline - “It’s never the wrong time to follow your dreams,” - that tied the whole celebratory experience together.

— Anastasia White, Crescent Bleu

“We're so excited! We've been steadily growing but are still self-funded at this point so opportunities like this mean so much.”
